My father was on an LST during the D Day invasion of France. Dogged perseverance was a trademark of the Greatest Generation and Churchill used that to build the cohesiveness among allies, mainly Britain and the United States needed to crush the Germans.
Yes, dogged perseverance is critical today for our country to survive the current crisis' we are facing. I am very afraid that we don't have the cohesiveness of purpose needed today. More now than ever, we need Divine Providence to help us through. In his name, I so pray.
Perseverance was the character trait that has resulted in success for the US for generations. I pray that we have passed it on to the future generations. In God We Trust.
Churchill seemed to have an insight that most did not when it came to the war. Or perhaps some did but lacked the will and needed the inspiration of someone who did. Either way, it was an uphill battle for Churchill to win others over to his way of thinking but his perseverance won the day and was a great contribution toward victory.
Wars are not always (spontaneous) in nature, and mounting a defense against an enemy, might take a very long time to find solutions to "how to defend" and even invade the nation that has started the conflicts. Solutions involve, not just combat readiness, but to be sure that the troops are all on board in heart and soul to fight against aggressor(s). There has to be a united will of the troopers and those that are waiting back home for their safe returns. I pray that (somehow), the hearts and souls of our fighting men and women, will rise up to meet the need, if they are called to lay their lives down, again.
Thank you, Tara, for another Great story about our previous generations and the trials and tribulations they experienced to keep America and Americans free from dictatorial leadership!
So many gave all for freedom. We must remember their sacrifice. We must understand that freedom is never safe from tyranny and we must struggle daily to protect freedom. 🇺🇸

Without Churchill, Hitler and Japan would have taken Europe and North America!
We were hesitant at first about entering this war but when we did enter the U.S. was determined to win.
