Talk about a “band of brothers” ! A group of four sons, all of whom served their country. His attitude was tremendous . . . “any sacrifices we really made were for each other”. Then, kicking one grenade and falling on top of another ! Every MoH recipient is so deserving and courageous, but each in different ways and in different circumstances. Thank you, sir, and thank you, Tara !

Wow. Robert Simanek was a great man and a hero to boot. It is never one person who wins the battle, it is the unit. As a military man, Mr. Simanek understood that his actions were part of the whole and it was the whole platoon who stood off the enemy that day in Korea. However, his undoubted bravery and determination helped to keep his group alive and to eventually survive.

I salute you Sir. Your bravery was rewarded with the MOH and deservedly so.

May God bless Robert Simanek and all who serve or have served this great.

He's correct. Once you get outside of the U S you can easily understand how good we've got it. Went to Germany when I was in the Army. It was ok, but it's not America.

Yes, it's still the greatest country in the world, no matter the issues at hand. We have much to be proud of and much to work on. Let's work together!

It's sad to see that we see so little evidence of this kind of selfless attitude and sense of teamwork anymore. It used to be a defining element of Americans. Or is it that we've always had "the few, the proud" who have shown the rest of us the way?

You still see this in our military today. Ask anyone still serving.

Your Medal of Honor history lessons are always inspirational and keep reminding me in great ways that our system of Freedom in this country is not Free at all.

I always look forward to your lessons, Tara!

Robert Simanek is another great military hero. It’s always wonderful when the hero makes it safely home. Although sometimes with grave wounds. One thing is certain every one of these heroes are team players. They support each other even at great risk to themselves. There’s an undeniable bond between them.

What a great hero and great advise he gave to young people, get out of the country and see other nations so they would appreciate how great our nation really is. So many young people are taught lies and hate about this great country, they should go to Cuba, China, middle east, Africa and really see how blessed they are! I have been to many 3rd world countries and well as 1st and NONE can compete with the USA! Great story Tara!!!
