Talk about a “band of brothers” ! A group of four sons, all of whom served their country. His attitude was tremendous . . . “any sacrifices we really made were for each other”. Then, kicking one grenade and falling on top of another ! Every MoH recipient is so deserving and courageous, but each in different ways and in different circumstances. Thank you, sir, and thank you, Tara !

Wow. Robert Simanek was a great man and a hero to boot. It is never one person who wins the battle, it is the unit. As a military man, Mr. Simanek understood that his actions were part of the whole and it was the whole platoon who stood off the enemy that day in Korea. However, his undoubted bravery and determination helped to keep his group alive and to eventually survive.

I salute you Sir. Your bravery was rewarded with the MOH and deservedly so.

May God bless Robert Simanek and all who serve or have served this great.
