Sgt. 1st Class, Jared C. Monti posthumously was awarded the MOH for his bravery in action during an attack in Afghanistan. He and his task force were operating in extreme terrain when they were attacked.

Like so many before him, Monti was attempting to rescue a wounded team member when he lost his own life.

Sgt Monti and his patrol were doing what American forces were doing since the Revolutionary War, providing continued freedom for the citizens of the United States of America. While this action seems so remote and distant, it proves that American Heroes still exist and they continue to fight for us.

May God continue to bless Mr Monti and all who have served or currently serve this great nation. Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.

The concern and determination in the face of such horrendous odds certainly defined the mettle of Jarod Monti. When he signed up it was to fight for his country. In combat it became fighting for each other. Monti desperately wanted Bradbury to make it home alive and so he jumped into action. That he wanted to live was seen by the 2 previous attempts he made to get Bradbury. Sadly, Monti’s efforts were futile. Monti willingly risked that option for Bradbury. May God continue to bless us with such incredible men. May they rest in peace.

These Medal of Honor recipient stories are so heartbreaking. The bravery displayed is unimaginable. Jared Monti is just one of so many who gave even their lives for others and their country. In this case two other men also lost their lives Pvt. Bradbury and Staff Sgt. Craig. I’m sure every soldier there that day was deeply affected by the events they witnessed. They could never forget. Thankful for every one of them.

A sad story indeed. The sacrifices our military makes are beyond compare to anything done in the States. They leave their homes and families so they remain safe at home. Unfortunately this hero paid the ultimate price for their safety. Rest in Peace Sgt. Monti!
