You’ve filled in so many unknown details about Betsy Ross’s life, Tara! No matter whether or not she made the first American flag we know she had a part in the history of the nation’s flag to some degree. She certainly endured a lot, but she seemed to be a strong woman. She was definitely a patriot. It does make one ponder how she would feel about how controversial the flag has become in the last few decades. Many a man or woman has had their coffin draped with this flag and then it’s carefully folded and respectfully presented to the family. We have one such flag displayed in our home. It’s a constant reminder of the significance of this beautiful emblem. Love the story of Betsy Ross. We enjoyed touring her house a few years ago.
A well known story retold. Thanks for this, Tara. It never grows old to me. I fly a Betsy Ross flag on special occasions and my curb address is painted with it also. I LOVE OLD GLORY.
Thanks Tara for another story of the women who helped win our Nation's freedom. It's a look into our past and the hardships of living back then, the sacrifices of many families to the great cause of liberty and freedom!
Thank you Tara. Betsy Ross is as well known for sewing our first flag as nearly any person among our founding generation. I didn't know much about her story until now. Thank you.
Thank you, Tara, for the details of the life of Betsy Ross. She knew a great deal of heartache, and lived her last years unable to see. The Patriots of the Revolutionary Era gave much for our freedom, and you’ve made Betsy Ross come alive for me.
Widowed 3 times…what resilience! All patriots at that. May she rest in peace whether or not the story is true. But, there is usually some truth to a legend!

Appropriate timing for me. Just replaced the flag displayed on my home with a fresh one. Thank you Tara for Betsy’s story.
I lived in Gloucester City or Camden County, NJ for 50 yrs. Betsy married John Ross in Hugg's Tavern in Gloucester City.
God bless Betsy Ross and you for her memory…
