You’ve filled in so many unknown details about Betsy Ross’s life, Tara! No matter whether or not she made the first American flag we know she had a part in the history of the nation’s flag to some degree. She certainly endured a lot, but she seemed to be a strong woman. She was definitely a patriot. It does make one ponder how she would feel about how controversial the flag has become in the last few decades. Many a man or woman has had their coffin draped with this flag and then it’s carefully folded and respectfully presented to the family. We have one such flag displayed in our home. It’s a constant reminder of the significance of this beautiful emblem. Love the story of Betsy Ross. We enjoyed touring her house a few years ago.

A well known story retold. Thanks for this, Tara. It never grows old to me. I fly a Betsy Ross flag on special occasions and my curb address is painted with it also. I LOVE OLD GLORY.
