What bravery to put your name to a document that assured your disallegance to the crown. An instant death sentence if caught.
Our founding fathers were certain that they must form an independent nation, free from the British intolerance acts.
At the time of the Declaration of Independence, there was absolutely no assurance that freedom and independence from the Crown could or would be likely.
God bless the United States of America and may God continue to bless the people who have laid down their lives for our freedom.
All’s well, Tara . . . and school starts again very soon so be of good cheer ! You get a different kind of Medal of Honor (not to diminish the real one) from your readers for the stories and inspiration you provide for us, and most especially for being a mom and keeping your priorities in order. Have a good productive (and a little relaxing) week !
I echo all of the previous comments. Remember that priority: God, family then work is the correct order to run one’s life. Sounds to me you are living the proper life.
Take the time you need. Everyone has to have breaks in order to recharge. Family is most important. It requires a lot of time and energy. Children grow up quickly. You are wise to take time for them and for yourself to recuperate. All you do to share history is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to a week of quotes.
I always appreciate your honesty. We can enjoy the statements made by our founding fathers until you get back in full swing. Enjoy those kids while you are blessed to have them.
The need to separate from England provided an imperative for ensuring the government created here would be able to withstand the substantial differences between regions and ideals, and to resist tyrannies. It almost failed within just a few years (alien and sedition acts, ABC, etc.), and was largely ruptured during the civil war. In some ways, it is arguable that we didn't survive that event in a form the founders would recognize. It seems the current crop despises many facets of the constitution, especially those structures that limit what they want to do with governmental power. They don't like federal representation (e.g. house/senate, electoral college, etc). They don't like the supreme court. They want to regulate assembly, speech, etc, invasion of property and privacy, confiscation, dropping due process and habeas corpus, etc, etc, etc.

Vacations from work, no matter how much you enjoy it, are important. Spending time with family is very important.
Anything you send me is fine Tara. I love history and I am just happy you are able to send something.
