Washington was undoubtedly in "the miraculous care of Providence", as he would continue to dodge Death throughout his military career.

It was no doubt Divine Intervention in many accounts, It trained him for battles that would come and also the defeats that he would later go thru. These experiences, the hardships and death that surrounded him that day help make him the leader he would later become. Thanks Tara!

There's no doubt in my mind that George Washington was protected by the hand of God. Not only in this battle where he had 4 bullet holes in his coat and where he had 2 horses shot from under him but, throughout the Revolutionary War and throughout his life. He was preordained by God to lead. Thank you Tara.

It seems to be a constant of Washington's life that he succeeded despite all the losses, retreats, and setbacks he faced. One of his sterling qualities was perseverance.

Thanks for the historically supported and - most likely - explanation of the woke un-interpretation of our country's racial populations. Of course, what do these people know that's smarter than a freshman at UPenn who can't tell boys and girls apart?

The fact Tara has to waste words on this nonsense speaks volumes to me…

Great story! Providence, indeed: "I had 4 Bullets through my Coat, and two Horses shot under me yet escaped unhurt.” Clearly meant to live another day. I especially liked you use of American Indian and the link to the excellent article on that name. I have bookmarked it for future use. Thank you, Tara Ross!

Only 23 years old! It’s easy to see God’s hand in the forming of these United States leading to our inspired Constitution. I love our history and how you bring it to life. Thank you!

Colonel Washington, had perseverance, yet had self control and [patience to wait] for the right moment to take charge of the regiments.

In this day and age, it would be almost impossible for a (real) General in combat to overcome adversity and step into command, (because) of the meddling's of politicians back home.

As for the Congress and Senators being to identify with what's (really) happening in the war zones, they chose to allow politics and rhetoric, over allowing the fighting commands take charge in combat. (I doubt that any or few, politicians even know what gun powder smells like.)

We more George Washington's in command today.
