U.S. Army Air Service pilots complete the first aerial circumnavigation of the globe. The journey took 175 days! American pilots had traveled more than 26,000 miles at an average speed of 72.5 mph.

Thank you for this amazing story of areal exploration. It is hard to believe sometimes just how far aviation has come in less than a century. The soldiers who participated in this endeavor certainly were explorers and their experience was important to the progress of aviation.
