That’s the way the death penalty should be administered now.

Thank you Tara. I hadn't known about the details of President McKinleys assassination and the numerous opportunities that his assassin had before they were face to face.

With respect to your comments regarding the death penalty being swiftly carried out, I believe that this execution is exactly how it should work. Especially, when the assassin confessed and there were so many eye witnesses, little doubt remained. Today, those few states who have the death penalty, rarely carry out an execution. Many years of appeals and extensions have nearly negated the actual death penalty. To be an effective deterrent, the death penalty must be certain and swiftly conducted.

My sentiments exactly 💯 👌

I have been thinking that the death penalty should be administered much quicker these days. One appeal and then it should be administered.

This is the most detailed account of McKinley’s assassination I have read. If only he had listened to his wife. Poor lady suffered so much personal loss of loved ones. Justice was swift and without political interference in those days. How much it has changed since then.

As you would expect, Robert Lincoln was a witness. He was there as president of the Pullman Palace Car Company.

The assassin deserved the death penalty. Committing his crime in front of so many witnesses, it was a slam dunk guilty verdict.

Unfortunate loss that didn’t have to be. Both McKinley and Garfield, should have been saved...

Very sad day for Mrs. McKinley and to add another to her family deaths would have been overwhelming for her.

Thank you Tara! Very interesting story of our history. I never knew the sorrow his wife had suffered. As far as the execution, I feel there was no lack of evidence, and we might consider the same time frame .
