Washington often wrote of his belief that divine Providence intervened on behalf of Americans during the war. Was the heavy rain on October 31 one of these interventions?
This just shows, the sheer tenacity of the scrappy American forces along with Devine Intervention had everything to do with our eventual independence from England. Thanks for todays lesson Tara!! πΊπΈππΊπΈ
Divine Intervention, a term used often by George Washington as he believed, (as do I) that God was guiding and protecting him from harm. Divine Intervention allowed a much more rudimentary force to eventually wear down the British and secure our freedom and independence. Thank you Tara. Have a great weekend.
I firmly believe that this was one of those Devine Providence moments. The tenacity and bravery of the colonial fighters seemed to be a rude shock to Howe, but it should not have deterred him from an attack which, however well fought, would have been disastrous for Washington's forces. A bit of Divinely inspired timidity, perhaps?
The Founding Fathers recognized GOD's hand in the founding of our nation as they wrote our most important documents and General Washington was seen praying alone many times by his troops. He understood that the patriots' cause was being led by our CREATOR, being the brilliant man that he was.
It does seem, sometimes, that the United States was just meant to be. The right men were in place at the right time. Not only for the Revolutionary War, but also several other times when America could have been just another page in the history books.
Thanks Tara. The faith in Devine Providence was central to the success of our Revolution. Also played a large role in the eventual writing and acceptance of the Constitution. Contrast this to the French Revolution, where Madame guillotine was the answer not law. And religion was largely rejected by the leaders.
Betsy Tara Ross the Faith of the Founding Fathers is overlooked more often than it ought to be! πΊπΈπΊπΈπΊπΈ
πΊπ² I'm thinking; if it walks like Divine Providence, and talk like Divine Providence... πΊπΈ
Always love the Washington stories! Thank you!
Thank you for another fascinating piece of the puzzle.
