George Washington was the right man, at the right time! His life was meant to lead this band of Colonies and Colonists from subjects of the king to Citizens of the United States of America. He led thru war and then he showed the way by being the first President. A man of and by God. Thank you Tara.
This was very informative, Tara. I had no idea the background on presidential vetoes. So thankful for the safeguards the leaders at that time built into the foundation of our government. It’s sad to see how it has been abused and misused.
Currently there are 747,000 constituents for every representative in Congress. Urban areas far outnumber representatives in rural areas and the number of representatives in Congress was capped at 435 in 1929. The U. S. has the highest ratio of constituents to representatives among the 35 nations in the countries that make up the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Not saying that is good or bad but certainly it seems there could be a better formula for more equal representation.
George Washington was really a intelligent man, and basically establishing precident during his terms in office, and he knew the importance of his every action. These vetoes are just an example of his prudence.
The Founding Fathers were a lot better creating America and running it than they are given credit for by many today.

He shows common sense for what he does. I have the Ron Chernow biography of Washington on my to be read list
Glad it was used properly. Another win for the young nation.
Thank you, Tara,
Now, if Congress or the Senate would or could do their duty and “veto” or “nullify” Presidential “Executive Orders”!
Thank you, Tara, for another unknown to me story!

Interesting comment! It deserves some thought because it does bring up an important point.
