Washington was a well established leader and obtained his qualities through hard work and sometimes through hard defeats, even while he was still young and fighting for king and crown. His lessons gave him so much wisdom and he used that to encourage his troops on day by day. We have so much for which to be thankful!

Another great story of the leadership and inspiration George Washington was. Righty so he truly was the father of our Nation. Without him our military small as it was in comparison to the British strength + the hired Hessians. We would have never won our Independence. Of course we got a little help by the French in the end of the war, but it just helped us end our victory earlier than we did.

I never tire of rereading these episodes of the Revolutionary War. And Tara, I couldn't agree more with you about the overwhelming importance of the leadership of George Washington. Along with the helping hand of Providence, George Washington proved invincible and his presence on the battlefield must have been like a huge shot of adrenaline to his troops.

God continue to bless George Washington and the United States of America. His actions and leadership gave meaning to this fledgling nation. Thank you Tara for another history lesson.

These men sacrificed all for our benefit, and we waste it on a bloated government that daily tries to reduce our rights. Shame on us.

What amazing leadership Washington displayed! His actions that day are on the level of the Medal of Honor. His leadership in the War for Independence was a keystone on which the Continental Congress was able to continue its valuable work. Thank you for again sharing about this remarkable man and how s troops.

I love these War for Independence/ Revolutionary War stories. Leadership is important, tactics are essential and soldiers willing to risk all are crucial. Think of all of those undocumented stories!!!

Such great tactics ... and bravery ... we're displayed by Washington in this episode, and so many others. It is fitting that our national Capitol is named in honor of this great hero of our revolution! Thank you Tara.

Excellent review of this historic event. Patriotism is an odd thing. Total emotion in the love of one's country. Inspiration of brave deeds and courageous action. A total abandon of one's own safety to guarantee the security of others. The defeat of tyranny took place that day, leaving open the door to freedom. The most coveted of needs. A people will mount any form of resistance to get and keep their freedom once taken. So help us God. 🇺🇸
