Washington loved to be home, but he gave up many years of being where he loved to be where he needed to be for his country. He refused to be king, but set precedents as our first president that were followed for many years. I’ve read that he referred to the Constitution regularly to put the government on paper into action. Thank you, Tara, for reminding us of the sacrifices Washington made to make us a nation.
George Washington was perhaps the greatest President this Country will ever see. He truly isn’t held up today in the high esteem he truly deserves. Over the past 200+ years our Country has had some great Presidents but George Washington cast a very large shadow that was hard to grow out of.
Unfortunately for the past 100 or so years we have had presidents that have been in office as pure egotistical politicians. So very opposite of the humble servant that George Washington was. When we say “God Bless America” we should certainly be saying “God Save America.”
He was humble, God fearing, and served others. Our current situation, many of our ‘leaders’ appear to have forgotten that they are there to represent US! 🇺🇸
To answer your question Tara, I am certain that George Washington would have been very despondent, angry and of utmost concern for this great nation that he sacrificed much in its cause.
President Washington served this nation as its first President with extreme trepidation. It was a job that he accepted out of duty, not out of political esteem. He would not recognize the government not its people today and fortunately for him, he doesn't have to witness what we have become.
I can only imagine what he and so many others in heaven are feeling about our nation. Thank you Tara.
He loved this country and was willing to do anything to see it succeed. Current politicians are about self serving and their pockets. They have no interest in the future of this country. They lack moral courage and willingness to fight for what is right and are dubious of their places in history as long as they can make a buck now.
I can understand his reluctance. Having led our military and enduring the many hardships of the long war to secure our independence, I can imagine the caling of Mount Vernon and "retirement" was quite strong. But despite that, he dutifully answered the call of our new nation to lead it through its most important formative years. I wonder how the United States would differ today if Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, John Jay or another of the founding fathers would have been our first president? What different precedents would have been established, and how would those have changed our history? Any thoughts, Tara?
I think George Washington would be appalled by the orange wannabe dictator who once became President by way of gaming the Electoral College system Not by a Majority vote of citizens .
General Washington would have known exactly how to deal with this seditious Traitor and his coconspirators in Congress who attempted to seize power after losing in the most scrutinized and reviewed election in US History .
George’s saber would see a lot of action summarily handing out final , swift justice to these enemies of all he held dear to his heart and soul - the birth and defense of American
Many founders gave up time with family to give that extra to the country. We benefitted from that dedication. Many in government leadership still choose country over family, not for the same reasons.

Washington, more than any other, is the Father of our nation, these United States of America!
Thank you again, for sharing this intimate insight of our first and most worthy President!
GREATEST
PRESIDENT
EVER
Granting he didn’t want the job, imagine how exciting it must have been to implement the greatest political document ever, the Constitution...

Indeed Ms.Tara..... what would he think of us today? smh

Washington believed his service to be a duty, not something to be pursued as a means to power. That is a far cry from what we see today.
You should look at other presidents who have “gamed” the system. Tara is an expert...

Democracy ! 🇺🇸 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thank you, Tara.
🇺🇸 I think sometimes we minimize or take for granted, the amazing strength needed to make the sacrifice our founders and their families endured.
Thanks for the reminder. 🇺🇲

What an unbelievable responsibility after leading the country through the revolutionary war!
