Yet another great lesson today! Thanks, Tara! I only remember that flight happening (I was in 10th Grade), but was unaware of the grumpy conditions on board!
Again, these relatively small details of human reaction and interaction give a HUGE perspective of the actual historical event - and this is what Tara excels at like no one else!
Thank you Tara. I remember nearly all of the early space flights as they weren't so commonplace; however, I don't recall the space crew of Appolo 7 being grumpy nor sick.
It does seem that the powers who were in charge of the space program were being a bit childish for withholding a Medal to this wonderful crew who persevered 11 days in space while suffering from a head cold. I would imagine that anyone would be grumpy. God bless all who put their lives in jeopardy to help us move forward in our understanding of space and beyond.
We not only owe a great deal to the hero's and all those who came before, but we NEED to be reminded of our heritage, lest we forget how we got here, and what makes us who we are. Thanks so much for your continuing snippets of history reminders Tara...
Tara, this story is so interesting & lost to the public at the same time. Enjoy the side stories that unfolded. Again you do a wonderful service in sharing these. Thanks again, Angie
Seems pretty petty to treat these three brave Americans like that. Not much understanding or compassion. Too bad they weren’t given the much deserved recognition sooner. I love the stories of our space adventures. Thanks for sharing another good one, Tara!
Thanks Tara Ross . I believe the fire was caused by a electrical spark in a pure oxygen filled cabin. This caused a horrible and intense flash fire. RIP !

So many names (people) from our space program have been forgotten. Let them be remembered.

Hope that NASA'S Mission Control has bigger men in charge now than they had during this Mission. Thank you Tara for sharing this!
Thank you Tara 😊 I'm sure there have been more testy situations with nasa but we the public never hear about them.
Grumpy old men!
Good for them!!
Wally and his crewmates did what others dreamt of!
So sorry that his award came too late!!
Thank you, Tara, for this story of heroism!

Awesome lesson today. Apollo was so fascinating to me. Tried to watch every launch well into the Shuttle missions. Thanks Tara for this reminder.

Another great post today! Thanks Tara. I always love it he side stories and minutiae - it was an exciting time in the space program
👍👍👍
Thank you, Tara.
I used to have great reverence for NASA. I still do for the astronauts. But never again for the government institution that is NASA.
