Thank you Tara. I didn't know about the first attacks on Wake island by the Japanese. The island was eventually lost to the Japanese but not taking some significant losses themselves.
I greatly appreciate the manner in which you flesh out the important details and give increased understanding.
We hear so little of the early parts of WWII other than the attack on Pearl Harbor. It's heartening to see the determination so early on and the damage inflicted in the face of such odds. Thanks, Tara!
Brave people, because I their hearts they had to know the final outcome. Instead the decided to make that real-estate as costly as the could. Yes, Johnny bit of an island version of the Alamo. Thank you Tara for bringing us a lesser told WWII story.
Early in the war the Japanese were scoring victory after victory in the pacific, but our brave men and women fought and fought hard. Heroes were common and the will to fight strong! The battle for Wake was one of many battles we knew we couldn't win at the time but we fought on. Thanks Tara for the reminder of the brave people of Wake who were trapped but decided to fight and make the Japs pay!!!
Wake Island is such a tragic story. What a horrific loss for the American people who were there. This account is new to me. Thank you for sharing history with us.

Thank you, Tara, for another very informative story of what it took for the United States to eventually win the war!
Thank you, Tara.
Americans to the end and shown by their determined defense and audacity. What a strong generation!
🇺🇸 Courageous stand by a group that surely knew the eventual outcome. Thanks TR, for reminding us of a proud moment, among many, in our history. 🇺🇲
Civilian. Former navy. Now, "reporting for duty sir!" The Greatest Generation for sure.
