“It is not easy to give you a just and accurate Idea of the sufferings of the Army at large—of the loss of Men on this account,” Washington wrote to the states.
It took a great leader to keep the men together and Washington was just the man. As a believer in providence I believe he was there for a reason and was Gods man to lead our infant nation.
Yes, the old adage is correct, sometimes it is darkest just before dawn. Again, I believe that divine Intervention was working for George Washington and his army that winter at Valley Forge. The unbelievable hardships were endured and better conditions, food and clothing and training made the encamped army much better in the Spring than at the beginning of the encampment. Too many good things occurred during that terrible winter than can be easily explained by good fortune alone.
Your messages are a threat to the "great reset". Keep up the great work you do. It's no wonder that our history is suppressed. The dumbing down of America continues as the sheep are led to slaughter.
The fighting American spirit was evident even then. God sent them provisions and help to improve their situations and training. With those improvements, the army not only survived the hard winter, but became a better force.
Many thanks to (in memory of) the Oneida Indians, General Nathanael Greene, the delegation of Congressmen, von Steuben, and of course General George Washington.
Washington’s leadership and the respect for him among so many added to the credibility of his letter. The need was tremendous and many were working to meet it.
It's ashamed that what most of us remember about our history class on Valley Forge was gloom and doom. I don't remember being taught any of the positive outcomes!! Thanks for today's lesson Tara!!🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
Hardy men become better warriors when deprivation turns them into hard and hardy soldiers… when the true depth of the challenge is accepted then emerges a fighting force equal to the task that lies ahead. Then perhaps that is when hard men do their best on the battlefield and when the odds start to change.
Deprivation works to change hardy men to hard hardy men when the situation demands it. Hard and hardy men become fearsome warriors when the fearsome challenge ahead is known and accepted.
Betsy Tara Ross this reminds me of the Travis Letter! The fighters for the Texas Révolution ARE the the children and grandchildren of the American Révolution, so comparisons and parallels are inevitable. When I was teaching American history, I always tried connecting it to Texas.

Your stories give great insight as to the dedication and willingness to risk everything to establish this country. Thank you, Tara.
