Your article is riveting. It is difficult to imagine the horror, terror and suffering these men went through. Although I know the terrible outcome, I am looking forward to reading more.

Terrible experiences our men endured. Those that survive the horrors of war often have to deal with lifelong health issues. Anxious to hear the final account, Tara.

Thank you Tara. The terror of being blown up and either dying immediately or then attempting to survive in shark infested water for nearly a week?

We owe the men of the Juneau and all who served a great debt of gratitude for their sacrifices.

A story to prove the well known saying: WAR IS HELL! The loss of life is and was unspeakable! We are indebted for the sacrifices that these brave men made to preserve home, family and freedom. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid. RIP, Gentlemen.

Incredible, epic, tragic. A wonder recount of sacrifice made by our fathers during WW11. Truly "The Greatest Generation". Thank you Tara for sharing this with us.

Even though the sea was peaceful for a brief time, I can imagine the anxiety among crew members just wanting to limp to port safely after what they had just been through. A wounded ship hobbling on the ocean surface were ripe targets for Japanese submarines.
