Great story about the Rebels of the time. Only one short year later they will be called Patriots. Although they have all perished from this world, we can still Honor them all every 4th of July, by being Patriots ourselves for at least a day. God Bless the USA!
Thank you Tara Ross, for this lesson on more history about the southern colonies and their efforts and experiences leading up to the Declaration of Independence. I would ask for more of them.
The yearning for freedom for those who came to America was imbedded in them long before they arrived. British tyranny only awakened it. Pray the same spirit lives on.
Sometimes it wa the little meetings of the regular folks that ended up making a difference in the outcome for freedom. Their persistence and determination resulted in the eventual independence from Britain. Another great history lesson!
The Colonies came to separate decisions to seek independence from the British Crown and, Georgia's decision on July 4, 1775, was made for the basic same reasons, as the other Colonies.
The Colonists were not provided the same rights and benefits, compared to the British subjects. Independence and Freedom were the only logical choice. Thank you Tara.
Another good story of that time in Savannah is the large number of Haitians that fought alongside the patriots against the British. I don't have the details but I believe that there was quite a large number of them.

It would be nice if we could all come together today and agree to repair the issues we have now.

Great story! The south had such an important role.
This was courageous, considering the consequences of losing the fight!
Very neat story..... naw July 4th was/is just a coincidence, lol. Thank you for the insight

Great piece of history. I go to Savannah every winter. I wonder if the tavern is is still there.

Great story! The fact the other colonies gave similar reasons and actions to take is incredible.
Awesome story. Thank you Tara.
The Sons of Liberty got it right, right down to the date and month!
They would not submit to tyranny and spoke for freedom!
Thank you, Tara, for another story I had not heard of before!
πΊπ² It is a bit mind boggling, all the pieces that had to happen, and be woven together, to make this amazing experiment in self rule possible.
Coincidence or Providence?
Thanks, TR! πΊπ²
