I always hope these children who never get to know their hero dad can understand why this happened.

Wow! what bravery - and all so his son and others would not have to go through such a war again. He, and so many others, gave up so much for our country - they were indeed The Greatest Generation. He was a fine example of a solider and a leader.

Great story of a great man and soldier. His heroism and dedication to helping others speaks volumes about the man that earned his Medal of Honor.

Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.

Thomas Fowler even looks the part of a bada##. His actions during that armored infantry push seems impossible. Lifting armed land mines to clear the way through a mine field, was enough bravery for one day but he wasn't even close to being finished during that battle. Repeated acts of nearly impossible and extremely brave leadership allowed Lt Fowler to finish the day, only to lose his life to a sniper during action on another day.

Thomas Fowler had plans for his future but, like so very many others, he gave his life for our continued freedom. May God bless this brave soldier and all of the Greatest Generation. May God bless all who have served or currently serve this great nation.

Lt. Fowler went above and beyond as so many others before and after him did. It was interesting to read the comment: “he seemed to know better than most of us what we were fighting for,” Lt. Ralph Carr, Jr., concluded. This seems to be a true statement. He was thinking of those at home and perhaps especially his son and hoping to provide a safer future for them all. Lt. Fowler did what seemed impossible. The risk was great and it ended up costing him his life. I hope his son was not caught up another war.

Lt. Fowler had a very clear vision of what he was doing overseas and the training to help him achieve his goals. Smart and brave. It is always sad when someone like this is KIA, but it is always this kind of person this is first in harm’s way. Thank you, sir.

🇺🇲 "he seemed to know, better than most of us, what we were fighting for..." I pray his infant son grew up to understand his father's heroic sacrifice.

Thanks for sharing, TR 🇺🇸

Thank you for this memorial account of an American hero.

His heroism began here- “Maybe, though, my being here will keep our little one from having to come over here. That is the way I look at it.”
