Another remarkable American who was willing to sacrifice his life to save the life of another. He also helped to save the lives of many others by flying over dangerous areas and firing on the enemy with the few arms he had. It’s good that he hasn’t been forgotten over time.
What must go through the minds of these heroes during a time of crisis is amazing. Weighing all of the options to save a brother in arms in a moment of time. Thank you Steven Bennett. Many lives were spared because of your actions. We are proud of our heroes.
Thank you Tara for another MOH story, on a Thursday.
The intentional ditching of his aircraft was certain death for US Air Force Captain, Steven Bennett but a chance of survival for Marine Captain Brown who had no usable parachute. Captain Bennett was awarded the MOH posthumously and his bravery is remembered and will continue to be remembered as the US Navy commissioned a ship, in his name and as his uncle said, "he was a fine young fella".
God bless you Captain Bennett and God bless all who have served or currently serve this great nation.
What selfless “Acts of Courage” on the part of Captain Steven Bennett during his entire enlistment. I give him a big Marine Hoo Raa as well as a RIP. His many accomplishments during his service time in Vietnam earned him his Medal Of Honor but his overall actions awarded him the honor of having a ship named after him states volumes of his overall actions during his service.
Talk about a completely selfless action, Steven Bennett’s story is amazing. What a remarkable man he was. A line from my song says “no greater love has mortal man than for a friend to die.“ The words reflect a saying of Jesus Christ. Steven Bennett certainly reflected his Creator. I am amazed at the remarkable men that have sacrificed their lives to save others in times of the war and in peace. They stand above the common man.

The selfless actions of these heroes is what you hope for, but I'm always amazed!
