Thank you Tara. I hope that John Paul Jones actually authored the quote as it fits so well, timing wise. Happy birthday to the flag of the United States of America.

Happy Valentines day to you and your readers, Tara.

Great story. It is unfortunate, but it sounds like other nations in the 1700’s respected our flag - and our nation - more than many people do today, including Americans.

Because they don’t know the principles on which our nation was founded on; Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and how those principles worked to make America the greatest, most prosperous and generous nation the world had ever known!

Today those founding principles are no longer taught to our children and grandchildren!

This is a great account. The significance of our flag being saluted by a foreign nation cannot be underestimated. It’s important to be respected by others. We’ve lost that the over the last few years. Hope with time it can be restored.

The importance of Flags and banners to a nation cannot be understated. God gave instructions to Moses as He assigned each Tribe of Israel their position in the land surrounding the Tabernacle that each Tribe was to camp by their banner/standard (flag). Every member of the tribe identified with the banner and its representative symbols. We do a disservice to our citizens by not emphasizing the importance of and promoting the respect due to the Stars and Stripes. It is a banner of strength, liberty, freedom, unity and so much more.

It much have been satisfying for our early Americans to receive such respect from other countries! Hopefully we can return to that respect soon 🙏🏼 😌 🙂
