Sinbad was treated just like any other sailor. He had enlistment papers that he signed with his paw print. He had his own bunk (a hammock), and he had his own battle station.
As a Navy man, I had not heard of the USCG dog Sinbad. But, as a dog lover, I wish that I had learned of Sinbad before. His exploits would have fit well with a number of salty old sailors I knew.
