Silas Talbot led a lucky but hard earned career in the Army and then the Navy before being given command of the USS Constitution. He had to have been one of the most well-known heroes of the Revolutionary War. It is important and appropriate that we remember Mr. Talbot. Thank you Tara.

Love “Old Ironsides” and appreciated this story of the courage of a hero of the Revolution and the early years of our history. He received command of the Constitution the same year that Washington died. Thank you for this short biography!!

Captain Talbot was a very interesting man. This post provided my first knowledge about him. He was brave to the core and so important to America becoming an independent nation
