Thank you Tara for the deep dive into our history. I appreciate the fact that people are not perfect, but still contribute for the good.🇺🇸

Hon Yost Schuyler had to be a good actor, and Arnold's smart 'easy' victory is a testament to his value to Washington and the American cause before he turned traitor.

And I hate to remind folks, that Arnold turned traitor AFTER he married the daughter of a wealthy British Loyalist, who was not happy living on the meager (and irregularly paid) income of an American General. // Yet moreso, Colonel Joseph Reed, who had been General Washington's first Aide de Camp, and became the 3rd President (Governor) of Pennsylvania from December 1, 1778 - November 15, 1781 was the man responsible for bringing Court Martial charges against Arnold for "Profiteering" on war supplies while he was assigned to Philly while Arnold was assigned to "garrison duty" (versus front line duty) recovering from war wounds suffered at Saratoga (the bloody boot...). In the TV series TURN, I was an extra in the Court Martial scene of Benedict Arnold, in the back of the dimly lit room. Arnold appealed to General Washington to stop the Court Martial proceedings, that GW did not comply with Arnold's request. After the Court Martial that was mostly favorable to Arnold, but not fully, GW gave Arnold another chance, and transferred Arnold to garrison duty in New York. Sadly, Arnold used that second chance to betray his Country and Washington.

The saddest part of all was was that Arnold was nold was not accepted by the British afthe British after his traitorous act either. This shows the importance of maintaining integrity.

Thank you Tara for the link to the article on the use of the name Indian. I'm saving the article as a reminder that wisdom calls for us to consult with the people most affected by our penchant for applying our so called "higher educational" ideals on a group of people and diminishes the strong identity of a proud traditional people.

Details such as these are important to future generations!

Add to that the fact that Benedict Arnold was a hero before he was a traitor is very interesting!!

Thank you Tara for another story concerning our nation’s founding!!!

What a great story. I have wondered just what exactly caused such a great tactician such as Major General Benedict Arnold to switch loyalties and become a traitor. He seems like a larger than life man who was a successful part of the American Army. Thank you Tara.

Tara,

Again GW - Good Work!

I love the "arguable explanation", in Dios, "morphed" into Indians. I wonder if the Indian leaders would embrace the term Indios, rather than Indians, and rather than "Native", for anyone born in America is a "Native American".

I have to go soon to present a certificate from the Virginia General Assembly to the Mattaponi Indios, nearby to my place on Lake Pocahontas, in Indian Acres, so I will ask them when I see the tribe leaders, what they think about Indios.

The other arguable explanation was Columbus’s use of the term "una gest in Dios" or "a people in God" which was reduced to "Indios" for every day usage by the Spaniards and later was further changed to "Indian" as the word moved north.

In GW - God's Will,

James Renwick Manship
