This is quite timely and significant in my family because my son, my step-dad, and my father-in-law were all Marines. It's quite refreshing to learn more about the birth of the Corps and its significance then and now. Thank you, Tara, for your scholarship and your willingness to share your expansive knowledge of our nation's history with us.

My schoolmate who will be promoting to Brigadier General next year once said it's hard to go from being a leatherneck to a politician. God bless them all! Thanks to you, Tara Ross 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

As the saying goes “Once a Marine, always a Marine!” We may leave active duty, but we never really leave the Corps. Simper Fidelis is Latin meaning Always Faithful.

Thank you Tara for remembering the birth of the United States Marine Corps and its founding leader, Samuel Nicholas. Thanks to his leadership, the Marine Corps have been "in Danger" in nearly every skirmish and action involving the United States. Happy birthday Marine Corps.

It’s important to know about the lesser known patriots who helped to form the groundwork for the future United States of America. Samuel Nicholas was quite good at drawing strong men to form his Marine Corps. Thanks for sharing this account of the newly formed Marines.

No one loves our "birth" story better than we do, Semper Fidelis!

Thanks. I hadn't heard of Nicholas, but I grew up in the Navy

Deep respect for the Corps and their first Commandant was certainly a great Patriot!
