Sammy L. Davis was "just doing my job" on 11-17-1967 as he saved other soldiers although he was seriously wounded himself. His actions earned him the MOH.
Mr. Davis was an extremely brave man who went above and beyond for his fellow soldiers and his country. God bless you, Mr Davis and God bless all who serve or have served this great nation.
What incredible actions by Pfc. Davis! It’s amazing how in the heat of the battle with so much against him being successful he was able and willing to keep fighting. Under such horrific circumstance he had the presence of mind to think “You don’t lose ‘til you quit trying.” And he keep going! Can’t love these MOH accounts enough, Tara. ❤️❤️❤️
I love these stories of true American heroism, I don't think we can grasp how intense and scary these battles were and the risks these men took. But the mindset is always the same, they didn’t think he’d done anything special. “I did my job,” he shrugged. “That’s what soldiers do.” God best all who served. All gave, some gave all.
Just a humble soldier doing his job. Maybe so but for those lives he saved he was Superman in real life. God Bless you Sammy Davis. You are a real hero.
Learn your job, do your job. Rinse, repeat. These soldiers did what they were taught and didn't shrink from that duty, no matter the circumstance. Proud to call them our protectors.
Another great MoH Monday. I cannot begin to imagine the conditions and the terror our soldiers go through in battle. Pfc. Davis was put in horrible conditions, and he did not have to rescue those soldiers, but he made an incredible and heroic decision and those men lived because of it. Truly a deserving honor. Thank you, Pfc. Davis ! Thank you, Tara !
