That's just duty", I was just doing my job said Roy Benevidez about the rescue operation he was involved in during Vietnam. Wounded so badly that he was being zipped into a body bag before he spit in the face of the doctor, Roy survived and eventually was awarded the MOH for extreme bravery when he provided leadership to the Special Forces team he was attempting to rescue.
His leadership and will to survive provided the opportunity to get the team and himself to safety.
What an example of bravery and fortitude. May God bless you Roy Benevidez and may God continue to bless all who serve or have served this great nation. Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.
I was on a plane years ago and found an old readers digest stuffed in the seat back and there was a story about Roy and I have never forgotten this man. What a true act of heroism!
You weren't kidding,Tara, this did read like a Hollywood Movie 🎥 Thank You, once again, for sharing this wonderful story this morning ☕ and will reStack ASAP 🙏💯👍
Roy Benavidez showed great courage under fire. Without thought for himself or the terrible injuries he sustained he continued to help his comrades. It’s an unbelievable story of bravery with humility. Something we see in all our MOH recipients.
Just one of the thousands of stories that show why Corpsmen and Medics should never have to buy their own drink at any armed forces bar!

A hero from Texas, on the anniversary of the Travis Letter!
Good point. :)
Reagan was right: Make a movie out of this story. P.S.: This brought tears to my eyes as I pictured what this hero went thru.

Thank you for such an inspiring story!
Such bravery, not often seen in any theater! Well done, MSgt! Your continued determination saved many lives.
There's nothing in the army like a responsible, dedicated master sergeant!
I’ve heard his story from two other historians. Reagan was right, it could be a movie.
Good Monday morning Tara Ross!💯🇱🇷🏴☠️❤️
