Ronald Reagan was one of the greatest Presidents, I went to a rally of his with my girlfriend (now wife) at Ft. Lauderdale airport in 1980. I was young and drawn to Reagan by his vision and hope for America! The Carter years were painful especially for young people starting out on our own. Inflation, gas shortages and high interest rates then, would shock people today! Reagan gave us hope and he delivered! He was the MAGA of his day! Thanks Tara!!!
Great story about my all time favorite Presidents. I was honored to have met President Reagan when he was the Governor of California. I was in the Marine Corps at that time. He spotted me in uniform at one of his fund raisers, left the people he was talking to and headed straight to me. This was in late 1969 while the Vietnam War was in full force. Anyway, when got to me he introduced himself, asked my Great Aunt who throwing the party for him who I was and introduced me to President Reagan. He shook my hand, thanked me for my service and told me it was an honor to meet me. He excused and said he needed to get continue his fund raising and walked away. I had no idea that I had just met the future President of the United States of America.
The first time I went to the White House Ronald Reagan was President. Thank you for reminding us that today is this great man’s birthday. He stopped our Russian enemy for the benefit of many, many people worldwide. He felt strongly that was God’s purpose for sparing him after the assassination attempt.
I can honestly say that Ronald Reagan's humor profoundly influenced my use of humor in public speaking, which I do weekly. It is invaluable in getting and keeping the audience's attention, even if many there are antagonistic to what you may have to say.
It was not only his wit but his building up of the American people, giving them hope and encouragement as citizens that helped him connect to the people.
One of my favorite Reagan stories is when he explains the difference between an optimist and a pessimist.
"Christmas morning two boys woke up to a pile of horse crap. The first boy says "all I got was a pile of crap." The other boy dives right in digging and says "There must be a pony in here somewhere." Looking back, those were special times.
Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico IL, and died on June 5, 2004. Not too far from my birthplace. I always thought he was a good President. He was also an actor and somewhat of a comedian.

"Today we're all Republicans, Mr. President." Check out Proverbs 17:22 😁
