Can you imagine our current 50/50 Senate electing a Vice President? This is an interesting story and before the Civil War and the Emancipation Proclamation. I'm not surprised that Virginia declined to support Mr Johnson for Vice President. Thank you Tara for finding another tidbit of our political history that I didn't know.
