Superior action under the most difficult circumstances! John Morgan was a true hero. He saved everyone on the plane except Lt. Campbell and completed the mission. It’s interesting to me how many of our heroes went through a lot to get accepted into the military. They didn’t use prior injuries or health issues to avoid serving. That in itself is a virtue of a hero. Thanks for bringing to light so many unknown heroes, Tara.
Lt. John Cary Morgan was one determined hero in 1943, flying a badly wounded B-17 over Germany, while fighting off a mortally wounded but agitated pilot. He successfully completed the mission and was awarded the MOH for his actions.
"Red" Morgan was one of the Greatest of the Greatest Generation. God bless all who have served or currently serve this great nation. Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.
It seems that we have a nearly inexhaustible number of true American Heroes.
Great to hear this story of a Army Air Corp Pilot. He went above and beyond in service to others before self. God bless him and his brothers. Thank you Tara.
An interesting MOH story, how Red Morgan did what he did and the bravery also of Koske and his saving of his crew mate. must have been ɔuite a flight and eɛperience for them both! great story!!!
This is one of the most incredible efforts I've ever read, or even heard told.
Overcoming such obstacles that would in other circumstances cause the death of all on board, Morgan deserved the accolades given. Well done, sir!
It was hard enough fighting the Nazis, but to have to do it while contending with your own makes it doubly hard!
I'm not a fan of heights so I can't even imagine taking all that on. Thanks !!!
This exact story is included in the excellent movie, Twelve O'clock High, starring Gregory Peck. If you haven't seen the film, I recommend it.

🇺🇸 Unbelievable story. How is the Lt. Colonel's story not a movie? Add Lt. Koske's brilliant idea to save the Staff Sergeant's life, wow.
At the very least kids should be taught about these honorable men, and their heroic actions.
Thanks, TR 🇺🇲
There's a movie called Twelve O'clock High. It isn't his story, but I believe one of the airplane scenes was inspired by Morgan.
A remarkable story! Thankful! 🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What an amazing feat he did to overcome the situation. Well done Sir 👏 🫡🫡🫡
Medal of Honor Monday is the best EMail of the week! Thank you for sharing these great tales of heroic and Patriotic men
