The speeches by President Reagan were so powerful and hold up over time. I don't remember one, that didn't move me. God bless these United States of America.

Thanks Tara.

The mark of a great leader is the ability to build up and motivate and challenge those he leads while creating opportunities for citizens to meet those challenges and prosper. One who actually serves the people. Where are such leaders today? We haven’t seen much of that lately and it is reflected in the mood and demeanor of our citizens.

So very true!

The Constitution of the United States let “The People” pursue their path to their personal “Pursuit of Happiness”!

Reagan knew and understood that following our Constitution made America the Greatest, most Prosperous and Generous nation the world had ever known and that the further our nation drifted from the principles of those Founding Documents the more precarious our and our nations status became and becomes!

Thank you, Tara, for this story of Reagan’s thoughts on the roots of America!

Reagan was one of our best and most influential presidents. A very important attribute of a good president is a deep love for America and a respect for the constitution and the citizens. The priority must be following the founding documents, lawfully and diligently working for the people and remembering the need for a higher power’s/God’s help. Reagan had all these attributes plus integrity. Let’s hope we can get back to those concepts soon.

I first met Ronald Reagan when he was Governor of California in 1970. He was at a fund raiser and I was in the Marine Corps in uniform. When ha spotted me he came across the room, introduced himself and shook my hand and thanked me for my service. I explained that I came to visit my Great Aunt Fern who was hosting this party he was at.

It was a very special day for me. Little did I know he would become the President of the USA at the time. I was a big Western Movie Fan and seen all of his movies before I ever met him.

Such a very good read on the day before we celebrate our countries birth. So very sad to think what our forefathers all the way back to our founding fathers would think of the way we are heading as a nation.

Ronald Regan was born and raised not far from my hometown. He was a great speaker and orator. He did some of his early time working on the radio stations broadcasting. He always had a great sense of humor.

I voted for him and liked him very much but was disappointed with his presidency as I thought he was much rhetoric and not as much real hard decisions. For example, he was advocating a balanced budget but ran one of the biggest deficits, or the arm sales to Iran. And contras an Oliver North’s scandal. I do believe he was a genuine guy and loved his country but did not have the capacity to be a great president.
