Happy Thanksgiving, all! For those who asked: I wasn't trying to claim that this was the very first Thanksgiving. I just said it was the Pilgrims' Thanksgiving and that it occurred after their first year in the New World. I know there are competing claims to the "first" Thanksgiving. 🙂🙂🙂

One of the primary reasons that socialism, communism never works is human nature. If you see that what you make benefits your family first and an abundance can also produce profit from sale, those hangers on work , buy, or do not eat. Those non producers cannot ride on the backs of others. If they try those working hard start to slack off themselves. Wish everyone could understand this premise.

Betsy Tara Ross thanks! Happy Thanksgiving! Always remember that the first such feast took place in 1541 in the Palo Duro Canyon of the Texas Panhandle. Coronado and his men survived their expédition, and Father Juan Padilla presided. The priest became the first Christian martyr in the New World in 1642. (In fact, the first 3 Thanksgiving feasts were in Texas before 1621.)

This is the only American Holiday on which most of us anywhere in the U.S. are doing the same thing: cooking, sharing, and/or eating a “Thanksgiving dinner.”

“Capitalism” is such a dirty, no filthy, word today when in fact Capitalism helped make America the Greatest, most Prosperous AND Generous nation the world had ever known!

Thank you, Tara, for spreading the truth about what lead to the founding of our nation!

When I consider the strength of character among those Massachusetts Bay women, I think they must have been bolstered by their history, like our own Tara Ross.

It took courage for the Pilgrims to act on their desire for a better life. They would need that courage and fortitude to survive some harsh winters, illness and low food production. Thankful we can read the truth about these ancestors who developed their character through their hardship to innovate and adapt to their environment and otherwise set the stage for the future. It is doubtful that those who want to deny or cancel Thanksgiving would have the same courage and fortitude to make that trip. God Bless America!

Happy Thanksgiving to you Tara and your family and to your many readers.

Yes indeed, if only everyone read this story and took it to heart. I am so thankful for my country and our form of Capitalism. I thank God for giving this great land to the Pilgrims and to them for figuring out why socialism doesn't work. May we continue to heed this lesson.

Thanks Tara for telling us truth. Pretty sure the C word will not make the nightly news as solution to their struggles during these early years. Thank God for great leadership in William Bradford. 🙏
