Good Story Tara, unfortunate for Revere, seems like he was a victim of stubborn and foolish officers. The courts are not always right in there decisions looks this goes back quite some time .
What a terrible story of poor leadership! We know how the overall story ends, but often forget the stumbles that took place during the war. Thanks for the reminder, Tara!
Having read of this affair, it is one of the embarrassing moments of the American Revolutionary War. No intrepid action in this event. The dark side of Revere was shown but he was right about they should have pressed the assault.
The “fog of battle”. Yikes, sounds as though neither side on the attacking Fleet and Army expected such a quick and easy advantage! No way to communicate with each other so paralysis set in and we lost the advantage!
The Penobscot affair seems a fitting name for a "Cluster ##$#".
What a sad fiasco in American military history. I can't wait for the rest of the story. Thank you Tara.
I have ancestors that participated in the Penobscot Expedition. First Major Wiiliam Eaton, Private Samuel Marshall, and others.
The ego of leadership has always been a useful tool against an enemy.
"Harmony between Fleet and Army, is not a perfect Unison".......indeed.
It would seem there was a fair lot of ego involved here, as well.

Wow, this information no in the text books I read as a kid 😳☹️
🇺🇲 The confusion and chaos of battle, mixed with stubborn egos...sounds like the fog of war has remained consistent through the years.
I am curious why Revere would face a court-martial.
Fighting for freedom is a messy business, isn't it? It rarely goes as expected.
While Revere's heart may have been in the right place, he proved himself to be no soldier, much less a colonel.
