These MOH stories make me so proud and break my heart. So many selfless heroes through the decades like these five men. They gave it all for this country. RIP Brave ones.

You are so right Tara. We must never forget these brave men. It's not about whether their action lends to a good story.

My father fought on Peleliu with the first regiment of the 1st Marine Div. as an intelligence office for Col. Puller (Chesty). He was a young lieutenant and reported directly to Chesty since his CO was killed on the beach. My father agreed with many others who have responded here that “With The Old Breed” by E B Sledge was the best retelling of the horrific battles of Peleliu and Okinawa. He was there for both.

May GOD bless each of the Marines in this story Tara and may he continue to bless the United States of America. The men in this story were each, a hero as were so many other men and women of WW2. Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.

I find it hard to respond to this battle. Utmost Bravery and Comradeship for these men to give their lives for their fellow Marines.

It is hard to fathom such courage and commitment. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. ~John 15:13
