You amaze me how you find and then tell the “unknowns”. You are the Paul Harvey of history; and “that’s the rest of the story.” (PH)

I love this piece of history. I was taught the significance of "Old Glory" by my Dad when I was very young. On thing I have missed in all of the intervening years is that the original Old Glory was there in the Smithsonian to view! Thank you, Tara!

I often depend on historian, Tara Ross to "set the record straight". Again, she has done this! (It has been a pet peeve of mine, first when I heard a 48-star flag referred to as "Old Glory"; next - for only a short period, a 49-star flag was called "Old Glory". Today, many call our 50-star flag "Old Glory".) Old Glory had 24 stars!

Great story as usual, Tara. And one I hadn't read before. Best to you.

Another “first time I heard this story” for me! People back in those days knew what “Old Glory” stood for and admired it for those facts!

Thank you Tara!

More obscure facts about the history of this country that weren't taught in school. Kudos to you Tara!

Wow. It sounds as though Mr. Driver lived a very long and patriotic life. Do we know how old he was when he died?

I fly "Old Glory" and now I know where the name originated. Thank you Tara.

A great story! Sounds like one of his daughters was jealous of the other. Maybe visa-a-versa,
