I have always thought that this alone was sufficient evidence to refute the spurious claim that all, or nearly all, of the Founders were Deists. Prayer as the first official act of the Congress sends a powerful message to all Americans!
Lord, please heal our nation and allow us to give you and each other, compassion, love and understanding. Give us the wisdom to seek and find peaceful solutions to our most vocal challenges.

It is good to bring the Nation an awareness of prayer and it's benefits. To give the opportunity to it's citizens to acknowledge God's goodness, to show gratitude and to pray for His continued protection and provision. God Bless America!
