Interesting factoids, Tara. Mt. Rushmore wouldn't have been started today. Our cancel culture would never allow it. Mt. Rushmore is a wonderful monument and the facts surrounding its building are fascinating. Thank you Tara.

We’ve been to Mount Rushmore and watched the beautiful sunset program. It’s an incredible place and experience. We also saw the beginnings of Crazy Horse Monument. Quite a project. They had not started the horse yet, but it is an awesome sculpture and will be fantastic when it is finished.

Great to know! Thank you again! A monument of this magnitude embodies the “can do” spirit of America. People flock to this country still for the very same reasons- freedom and unlimited opportunities for creators, inventors, scientists, entrepreneurs and artists. We could use leadership of this nature as a model for upcoming generations, admit our errors while focusing on positive accomplishments, and these are usually reached through compromise and civil discourse.

Very interesting facts. Mr. Rushmore is truly a site to behold. I’m glad I got to see it a few years back. There is so much history to see in this country. I know I will never get to see it all, but fortunately I have been blessed to see most of parts of it in almost 80% of our country.

We enjoyed both Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse project. Saw the beautiful night program at Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse museum exhibits and some of the Indian cultural dances and verbal history of the Lakota heritage. I believe there is also a college there that many of the Indian young adults attend.

We visited Mount Rushmore this summer and we were inspired and awed. The pictures don’t do it justice. It is brilliant.

There have been some fantastic books written about the Mt Rushmore construction; both fiction and nonfiction. I once read one about a plan to assasinate the president at the official unveiling.

Thanks Tara 😊 I'm wondering if the Crazy horse will be finished by 2037 as first stated when started 🤔

The engineering work it took to make it was amazing. We went four years ago.

Also visited Crazy Horse who had an interesting history from what I read in his museum. He wasn’t a very good dude.

Yeah, I didn't spend a lot of time looking into it, but I'm under the impression that the anticipated completion date is still a good 15-20 years away.

An awesome monument to visit. I saw the beginning of Crazy Horse. Time that federal funds were offered to complete the 2d monument. Thanks for the background story.

I **think** federal funds have been offered, but the Crazy Horse project refused them.
