Those serving in WWI were the examples the the Greatest Generation followed. They were the best and we would do well the learn and follow their lead today. Thanks Tara for an awesome MoH story this morning! πŸ™β€οΈπŸ’ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²

Ist Sgt Milo Lemert was definitely a hero and one man Army during WW1 when he took out several machine gun nests before being mortally wounded. His final words were erie, "I'm finished, boys, give them hell" a natural leader, Lemert gave his life for his country and his family. His Posthumous MOH was just and deserved. God bless you Sir and may God continue to bless all who have served or currently serve this great nation. Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday.

In spite of what Lemert’s brother wrote to their mother I’m sure she grieved and I’m sure his wife did too. 100% agree that WW1 fighting forces were a great generation too. Perhaps we can honestly said that of every generation willing to sacrifice for our country.

They were the fathers & mothers that raised the greatest generation. They weren't exactly slackers. Thanks for another MoH story Tara!

Hmm. I've told that story before, but it's been a while. I believe the anniversary of his action is sometime next week. Maybe I can do his story on Monday. :)

Without any regard for self, first he led by words and then by example. Charging machine guns ? I can’t imagine the bravery ! It would be interesting - and impossible - to track the generations since to determine what children were born to the parents of the men he saved. I sure many owe their existence to him.

My Grandfather was one those who fought in WWI. Unfortunately he was exposed to mustard gas and barbed wire field. He was lucky enough to have a gas mask at the ready and got it on before he breathed too much in. He continued fighting and brought several of his buddies back after the fire fight ended. As a marine he believed no man was to be left behind. He displayed his ribbons and Purple Heart proudly in his office in Eastland, Texas.

RIP Allen C. Jones.
