“I don’t think [Dad] thought he was doing anything special,”

The common trait all heroes possess. An American trait. God Bless America.

Master Sergent Mike C. Pena was anything but simple when he ordered his men to retreat while he stayed to an almost certain death.

I know that we all would wish that we could have been as brave as Pena on that day in Korea, but I'm pretty sure that few could have done it.

I salute you Sir and I hope that you know that you saved many lives by your actions. May God continue to bless all who served and continue to serve. Thank you @Tara Ross for another MOH Monday.

Another Great American Hero. Like Master Sergeant Peña I bet there are hundreds or maybe thousands more that just did what needed to be done so that others may live. This does not mean to take anything away from our Great MOH recipients but more to the point of honoring the Great American Spirit! All gave some, and some gave all!

Another American hero doing what Americans do. Well…not exactly what all Americans do. Master Sergeant Pena was among a very special group of Americans who go above and beyond. I am sure all his family was proud of him although it cost them dearly too. The families left behind are too often forgotten. They deserve to be recognized. Medal of Honor Mondays are the best! Thanks, Tara.

I'm glad the DOD started doing the review process. There's been more than a few that had DSC's upgraded to the MOH.

His actions clearly showed his dedication to the men under his leadership, and the duty that he accepted. May he, and his determination be remembered.

After WW2, then Korea, the heroes thought American warriors could take a respite.

Then along (another police action). Vietnam—

And, the heroes, again said, “Send me!”

A great, but heart-breaking, story of a great man. GOD just needed a true leader in Heaven and Mike was called upon. A truly great American.

Our heroes don't think of the medal, they always are thinking of the men who server with them. Saving others is what Heroes do.

Thank you, Tara, for another story of a man who gave his all for his fellow soldiers and their futures beyond their duty to their country!

Those, like Mike C. Peña, who served with honor must be remembered and honored throughout future generations and beyond!

Thank you Tara!
