The Medal of Honor Museum opened this week near the Cowboys stadium in Arlington, TX. My favorite Medal story is when they tried to revoked Medals at the turn of the previous century given to Army civilian scouts. The widow of Billy Dixon wouldn't surrender his for action at Buffalo Waller. His action at Adobe Walls is legendary too.

Great post, Tara! It’s important to know the history of different types of recognition like the Medal of Honor. By increasing our understanding our respect for those receiving the recognition grows. It symbolizes more than just a medal. There is a real person behind each one and a family that stands with them and in some cases mourns their loss.
