What a great story Tara. Thank you for finding and recognizing Lucy Coffey. Women such as Ms. Coffey were and are very important cogs in the wheel of Military success. I would have loved to have heard her stories about her experiences during her service.

Great story about a great lady. Her service along with those other ladies who served in jobs usually done by men prior to WWII are the true exhibit of the American Spirit. We should never forget their service including those known as the Rosy Riveters that didn’t serve in the military but were just as important.

My grandma lived to 102 in 2008. People were tough in those days, but they just took care of business!

They weren’t complainers or saw themselves as victims. They were definitely strong.

The greatest generation! May Ms. Coffey and all those who served rest in peace. May God bless those who remain with us with good health and circumstances.

Holy cow Lucy! We might have been stationed together at Kelly AFB. But I doubt it.

I’m just grateful there are still men and women ready to give all for their country and love love to do it to their dying day.

This is another outstanding story, Tara! If every person used their talents and had determination and perseverance like Lucy Coffee we’d all make a positive impact. She sure didn’t waste any of her long life. It’s so gratifying to read about women who didn’t complain, but diligently did what they could do willingly. I’m glad she got recognition for her service.

Thank you Tara, as I would have never heard of Lucy Coffey if not for you. It makes you wonder how very many others served as she did - quietly and for many years with no recognition. Another great example of serving your country in any way you could. I will be looking forward to the other story about the 111 year old lady.
