This heroes story is new to me. Being a USAF veteran, you would have thought it would have been covered in Leadership classes (maybe it was and I forgot). Service above self was our moto and he took it to the enemy that day. Thank you Tara.
Major Sebille already a very decorated pilot in WW2, joined the Air Force again to fight in Korea where, he gave his life in defense of his fellow soldiers. Knowing that his crippled plane wouldn't make it back to safety, he decided to sacrifice himself while doing the most possible damage to the enemy.
I can't imagine having the courage to do what he did. As the first ever Air Force Medal of Honor awardee, his Posthumous Award honored his ultimate sacrifice.
God bless you Major and may God continue to bless all who have served or currently serve this great nation. May the United States of America ever stand.
Thank you Tara for another MOH Monday. I hope that you were able to partially recharge this past week. I enjoyed the week of famous quotes but probably not as much as your daily posts.
What a courageous patriot and at such a high cost. It’s hard to comprehend that kind of sacrifice. Americans for generations have enjoyed freedom without much thought to why we have it. It’s so important to understand and remember those who gave their all to preserve freedom for those following. Major Sebille is one of so many. Thanks, Tara, for sharing these Medal of Honor stories with us.
Amazing act of courage to complete his mission. I wonder if he had been able to drop his second bomb on target would he have sacrificed his plane and himself in this manner even though his plane would have never made it back? A question we will never have an answer for. My heart goes out for his wife and son.
What an immense sacrifice Major Seville made for the protection of the ground troops nearby. The intensity of the fight was great and the major only did what he had left to do when he felt his ticket was punched. Could he have survived? That he did not think so is obvious. May he rest in peace.

I'll always wonder how a wife and child survive this! If a man can be deemed worthy to assist, he must truly be considered a hero as well.
