Thank you Tara. The people of Brookings, Oregon are remarkable and commendable for forgiving Mr. Fujita and making him an honorary citizen.

What Fujita did to bomb the forest, he had been ordered to do but obviously, he was very remorseful and he spent his remaining years making amends.

This is a good story about people forgiving past deeds.

Wow! I never, ever knew any of this! Thank you Tara! I grew up in a small town, our neighbor was Japanese..My dad served in WW2 on a DE. Had been in the pacific..he told me not all the Japanese were at fault. Our small town on the Allegheny river welcomed her in the 50’s and 60’s.🇺🇸🙏🏻

Another great story that few have heard. The only reason I had heard was because of the plethora history books I have read in the last year. Thanks greatly to your column rea-wakening my interest in history .

Great story. I've read about the 'fire balloons' launched from Japan against the West Coast but wasn't familiar with actual float plane bombing(s) there. Good stuff!
