Washington faced every challenge with the ability to meet them head on. Things can change quickly in war and information can be sketchy. A great leader can make adjustments as needed. He knew how to inspire his men.
Oh, how a leader like Washington is needed today! A man of impeccable character and integrity, a man of honor! One that could rally the nation to do the right things!
Communication and surveillance were lacking all of our current technology, in 1776 and General Washington, having received inaccurate information, failed to send a sufficient number of American troops to defend New York City from the huge British invading force. This was a terrible error; however, given the armament of the British, I wonder if a corresponding sized American force could have defeated the British in this battle.
Time and counter attacks would eventually win the day.
Can you visualize the sight of that huge British Armada in the New York harbor? Scary!

As Americans, we need to all have the cost of our freedom ignited again within us. We have allowed it to slowly be chipped away without even realizing it. Freedom is never free!
Long gone are the Patriots that fought to establish our Nation. Unfortunately we have grown soft and integrity seems to be an absent character trait in those running our country and in our military leadership. President Ronald Reagan once said we are only one generation away from losing our freedoms. It seems like that time has come. 😢
