It is probably impossible to know how it felt to be in that extremely cold water, at night and in the middle of the ocean but it had to have been brutal. The crew of the Leopold and the Joyce faced improbable odds to survive the weather as well as the enemy torpedoes and each man is a hero in my opinion. I think that the prayers of the survivors must have aided their chances of survival. Thank you for remembering the men of the USS Leopold, Tara.

tough bastards like my old army vet grandpa would say,,, and he was a ornery tough old dutchman,passed away many yrs. back, wonderful stories he told, my mom and dad said they were probably all lies, will always remember my grandpa van Voorhis with admiration and awe ! last time I saw him I was 13 yrs old., I am now 68.
