As the old saying goes “There is no honor among thieves” thus can also go among votes. Elections have been corrupt since the beginning of time it seems. With mail in ballots, drop boxes and collecting ballots in nursing homes has started it only seems to have gotten worse.

God save us all.

This would have torn most countries apart, but not here, again demonstrating the prescience of the Framers when constructing the Constitution…

The more I read about the various President's, I see that the more things change, the more they stay the same. I read about Truman and it sounded just like the elections these days.

I never knew those details! All we ever got in history classes and most books was that Jackson won the popular vote but lost the Electoral vote. So enlightening--and very different-- to get the real truth!

The men forming the government for a young nation, in spite of so many brilliant minds, found it was not an easy proposition. What we have experienced in several elections is not a new phenomenon. They got through it back then and hopefully we’ll get through it too. Somehow it seems like the challenge today is much harder.

ANY JOB, with any degree of power over others, is a natural draw to some SOB who will abuse that power! FREEDOM demands constant vigilance!

In the book titled “Confidante” the author writes about Franklin Roosevelt running for Governor of New York. Thinking he lost, he went to bed that evening before giving his concession speech Overnight the counting of votes slowed. Fraud was suspected and by morning more votes had been found for Roosevelt. Roosevelt woke up the next morning to discover that some how he had won......Sound familiar? The big difference between the election story in today’s TDIH and the election we are facing in November is the choice between competing ideologies of democracy and socialism....Americans are buying the socialism....Very concerning.

Until the power of Love exceeds the love of power, we will have corruption.

I had forgotten about this election. I guess what goes around, comes around.

Thank you Tara for reminding us about our history. It is always good to remember that not much is really new, although it seems new to us. May this election be fair, honest and accepted.

If the (citizens) think Presidents need to pass a mental examination, then maybe the voters need to pass one as well!

(Seems that greed and power are bedfellows in the administration offices), and the voters fall-in, to salute their own greed from tax payers pockets!

Sad for Americans!

One thing is certain: elections are seldom a calm process. Emotions and tempers can run high and there is never a certainty of what might follow (consider 1861). Keep an eye on this years, it's a doozy!

“Politics makes strange bedfellows” and it always has. I suspect there are many “corrupt bargains” made on every level that we’ll never know about. Oops, I’m a bit cynical this morning !
