Thank you Tara. Captain Jonita Bonham was an amazing young woman, doing what she was trained to do. Her continued actions in the face of extreme pain following the plane crash in waters off Korea saved a number of Americans who would otherwise have died. Ms. Bonham served this country well and I salute her for her bravery and determination. May God bless Ms Bonham and may God continue to bless all who served or are currently serving this great nation.
What a remarkable woman and nurse. She certainly proved her salt when she took charge of the situation. A calm, clear headed appearance is so very important in a moment of crisis. I am sure that with the flight hours that she had learned to remain calm as she administered care to those wounded soldiers. I suspect that they saw her as an angel of mercy. And how sad that she lost her friend, Captain Brown. Thanks, Tara, for this important piece of history.
Remembered, indeed! Highest level of courage. Reminiscent of the women in your excellent book, "She Fought, Too: Stories of Revolutionary War Heroines" Thank you for helping us remember, Tara Ross!
A great person and a lucky person ! Talk about having a clear head. Without her there would have likely been no survivors ! God still had things for her to do.
The fact that Jonita Bonham persisted in helping the wounded and confused soldiers made a difference in their survival and perhaps hers as well. She was able to take charge and was instrumental in leading them through the difficult ordeal. It’s sad that so many perished including her co-nurse. We are indebted to the brave nurses who fill such an important role. Thank you, Tara, for another inspiring story.
Another incredible American who went above and beyond the call of duty
