The symbol of the snake is on the Marine Corps flag and most marines I’ve known in my lifetime have a tattoo on their arm , neck , chest , leg and God knows where else . To them the snake represents “ Don’t Thread on Me “ attitude because you will get “ bitten .” Wonderful story Tara as usual about the history + symbol of the cut up snake ! Semper Fi

Thank you Tara. Another day, another history lesson. I have not heard this story before but you make the symbolism of the snake understandable. And yes, history does tend to repeat itself. Today, the second amendment is in very real jeprody and the snake symbol is resurrected.

I tend to agree with you on that Tara history does repeat itself, let's just hope and pray it does so favorably for us 🙏🏼 😊

I love the symbolism of the serpent. Even Christ Jesus used it positively when he told his disciples to be as harmless as a dove but as wise as a snake. There is also the danger of the snake in that it will protect itself, but the serpent is still the symbol of healing as it is used in the caduceus. I love the symbolism of the snake.

This is a good history lesson regarding the serpent. I’m familiar with Biblical references and aware of the snake symbols used regarding our country’s symbols. Like most things there are often two different ways of looking at the same thing. Franklin was great at communication. History does tend to repeat itself because with time people forget and new generations aren’t taught. The road ahead of us is not easy, but we have to remember our history and fight hard to keep what others have fought to preserve for us. We know it’s worth it.

Thank you, Tara, for your daily "reminders" that America is worth praying and fighting for. The Freedoms that we enjoy were not so simply achieved in one day, and that each of us needs to be Vigilant in our quest for Truth and always be ready to give an accounting for freedom's sake.

Interesting, I've seen the image many times, but I don't remember ever hearing this back story. Thanks Tara!

Awesome history...which I don't ever recall "hearing" previously. The snake also represented in the " Don't tread on me" poster. It is a vital component in the circle of the ecosystem.

Great tidbit of history. A "much-loved symbol of wisdom, patriotism, and endurance." We need more "snakes" today! Thank you, Tara Ross!
