Even back then Stark and others likely recognized the “danger of congressional intrigue - promoting less worthy men for political reasons “. A big red flag! Is that not what is happening today and not just in the political arena? This practice hurts the country and the citizens. Hope enough people are waking up to the dangerous reality of this practice and it can be reversed.

Yes, a motto appropriate even today- "Live free or die." General John Stark was certainly a principled man and obviously a leader of men. Molly Stark didn't have to sleep as a widow following the battle of Bennington, Vermont so many years ago. Thank you Tara for another history lesson, teaching about the patriotism of John Stark during the Revolutionary War.
